I have heard it said that people “make a living”. I always tried to “earn a living”. So thinking about it now I have come to the conclusion that people either:
Earn a living
Make a living
Take a living
I think this describes our economic system. I also think it describes with these simple modifiers, who people are, What kind if citizens they are, what kind of life they live, and what kind of domicile they live.
I see producer or consumer.
So what about you?
Semantics, nuance. "I always made a living by taking the opportunities to earn my own way in life." One needn't be a tuchesnik by having it all. : )
I think the people that make and earn can be similar in mindset. Either it is being created and/or worked for. The able bodied takers are the parasites.
